Annie Laura McFadin was born in Leakey, Texas, in 1905, the eldest of eight children of Joseph O. McFadin and Mary Ida “Dolly” Gibbens McFadin. She maintained an active interest in genealogy throughout her life and was a member of a number of genealogical organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and United Daughters of the Confederacy.
